HOW CAN I SHOW UP?
You can join our Nationwide Teams as a sponsored athlete living with MS, or as a supporting ally in the fight against MS. It’s gonna take all of us to crush MS – so we need what you got. Luckily, we’ve got so many ways to be involved, all described below. So, roll up your sleeves and help us fight. We BBQ and we ride until there’s a cure.
MEAT FIGHT, INC. SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH MS
We offer sponsorship to qualifying applicants living with MS for these epic adventures nationwide! Apply today!
MEAT BIKE
Our flagship program aimed at badasses living with multiple sclerosis that are ready to do epic sh!t. If selected, we provide a road bike or a recumbent bike. You provide the wherewithal and drive to participate in an epic long-distance bike ride. That also means training several times a week in preparation. Don’t worry –we’d provide a general training outline for your rides. Apply for a Meat Bike here.
MEAT HIKE
Join us for a Meat Hike, an original Meat Fight, Inc. program that takes a team of people living with MS on bucket-list hiking adventures. In 2022, we went on a 12-mile hike into (and back out of) the Grand Canyon! In 2023, we hiked the Great Smoky Mountains! And in 2024, we’re taking on Zion. Application link will pop up here when it’s open and available!
PROJECT 13
This is a nationwide program that challenges athletes with multiple sclerosis to take on epic adventures, like the Pike’s Peak Ascent and Boulder 70.3. We provide the coaching and entry fees, but the grit and determination are BYO.
WAYS TO SUPPORT THE CAUSE
Below are ways anyone can join Meat Fight. If you’d like to join us as a spectator or join our team as a supporter of people living with MS, reach out to us.
HAVE BIKE, NEED TEAM
Join our nationwide teams. Anyone can be a part of our Bike MS team. If you are not living with multiple sclerosis, but you know someone who is, or just wanna add your efforts against MS – we’d love to have you. If you’ve got your own bike and want to learn more about joining a Bike MS team, email mikecasey@meatfight.com.
Pike's Peak Ascent 2025
The Pikes Peak Ascent is a grueling 13.3 mile race from Manitou Springs, Colorado, to the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak. With a vertical climb of 7,800 feet up the historic Barr Trail, this is NOT your typical half marathon! If you are someone living with multiple sclerosis, you can apply to be considered for sponsorship. Athletes who are not living with MS are eligible to join with higher fundraising levels that include coaching! Apply here: Pike’s Peak Ascent 2025
IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder
A 1.2 mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run. You game? Anyone can join our Ironman Team to experience this thrilling athletic adventure. If you are someone living with multiple sclerosis, you can apply to be considered for sponsorship. Athletes who are not living with MS are eligible to join with higher fundraising levels that include coaching! Apply here: Boulder 70.3, 2025
I JUST WANNA DONATE
That’s totally cool, too. We always welcome donations of products, services, financial support, or your time, as a volunteer. And we are deeply grateful. If you have questions about donations, email alice@meatfight.com.
Remember, anyone can join our teams as an unsponsored athlete. Learn more about getting involved here.
MEET THE COACHES
Coach Kelly Handel Williamson is a former professional triathlete with a range of impressive titles, including Ironman Texas 2014. Lucky for us, she is also one of our official Meat Fight and Project 13 coaches.
Coach Cathy Casey fell in love with running at age 7 and it sows. She’s had a career in coaching, with 18 years spent heading up SMU Track & Field and Cross Country and now at Rogue Running Austin. She still competes herself, with notable achievements in the Boston Marathon and Ironman Cozumel, which helps her guide our Meat Fight and MS Project 13 athletes to personal bests.
MEET OUR MEAT HIKE PROGRAM LEADER + NATIONAL BIKE TEAM CAPTAIN
When anyone has a question about Meat Fight bike or hike teams, Sarah has the answer. She’s finished many a Bike MS rides and led a team of Meat Hikers into and out of the Grand Canyon (yes, that one). When not captaining, you’ll find her pedaling to indie coffee shops or trying out the latest hiking gear in her backyard… and we count national parks as her backyard.
MEET OUR DIRECTEUR SPORTIF
With visions of finish lines and new kit designs dancing in his head, Jim provides the direction for all of Meat Fight’s big challenge dreams. A repeat Ironman, cycling phenom and braniac during his office hours at Google, Jim puts all of his talents together to envision major sport and donation goals and action-packed fun for Meat Fight. He’s also a fan of foreign language television and Euro-pop, which occasionally makes for interesting team playlist submissions.
MEET THE QUEEN OF MEAT
It’s all her fault. And we mean that in the best way! Alice Laussade is the one who started it all. She saw that a friendly barbecue competition in her backyard had a potential to become a fundraiser, and her funlathrophy goals just kept growing –as have her accolades. She’s a James Beard Award winning-write and Meat Fight’s badass CEO. Bike MS events have long been part of her family’s activities, and once Alice learned staying active can benefit those living with MS, incorporating cycling (and later, running) into Meat Fight efforts were natural next steps.
MEET OUR PRESIDENT + GENERAL COUNSEL
Mike Laussade serves as General Counsel of Meat Fight, Inc and has a day job as fund formation and venture capital lawyer at Jackson Walker L.L.P. in Dallas. Mike’s primary interest outside of work is reminding people that he twice won the pulled pork category at Meat Fight, back before it sold out and went corporate.
MEET THE VPS
Celeste and Mike Casey are the operations super squad. They provide the gourmet hand pies and CAD drawings that power Meat Fight’s volunteer teams and events, but those are just the highlights. From merch tables to volunteer assignments to negotiating logistics, the Caseys are behind-the-scenes superstars. On the scene? You’ll sometimes find them as Meat Santa and Mrs. Claus checking off the year’s Saucy and Dry brisket lists.
